I have been fortunate to have had the opportunity to travel the world. I have toured The Vatican, seen pyramids in Egypt, climbed mountains in Switzerland and had dozens of other interesting adventures in far off places with fascinating people.
I settled in Orlando with my son about 10 years ago so visiting Disney, Seaworld, Legoland, Gatorland, Old Town, Funspot and so many other places became part of our routine.
But we had never done Discovery Cove…
For Noah’s 10th birthday I wanted to do something incredible and so surprised him with passes to the park where we took advantage of the Birthday celebration package.
I did this for his sake, not realizing that soon this would be one of the most pleasant and memorable days of my entire life. Everyone wears a lanyard at the park- Noah’s was red, while most everyone else’s was orange. This allowed the people who worked at the park to know it was his birthday and Every single staff member that saw it said “Happy birthday” to my son. He felt so special.
Everyone- from the check-in staff to the clean up staff at the cafeteria and everywhere in between were the epitome of professionalism.
We enjoyed the meals (I think Noah ate three desserts) and the Cabana is worth splurging on to make it extra special. The birds (especially the one with the red mohawk) at the Aviary made it feel like we were thousands of miles from the hustle and bustle of I-4 and added to the atmosphere of relaxation.
The dolphin experience itself was incredible. I have done many things that not many people have, but I never thought I would ride alongside a dolphin while it swam. It was sublime and surreal and magnificent.
We were in awe of the grace of these beautiful animals and it is very evident how much the trainers and Seaworld itself cared for the animals it houses.
This was worth every penny. While I thought I was doing a great thing for my son; I didn’t realize it would also end up being one of the top five experiences of my life.
Aces, Discovery Cove. Aces.
