Review As Florida As It Gets: For BookTok and Bookstagram Creators

If your audience enjoys funny books, Florida stories, family life, regional culture or writers who notice the odd little things people do, I would be glad to introduce you to As Florida As It Gets.

This page is for book reviewers, BookTok creators, Bookstagram accounts, librarians, book-club hosts, podcasters and other readers who may want a copy, an interview or a better look at the stories behind the book.

A review copy should not arrive with an emotional mortgage

You do not owe me five stars, a choreographed unboxing or a solemn declaration that this book changed the direction of Western literature. A review copy is a book, not a hostage negotiation.

Read it honestly. If it makes you laugh, tell people why. If one chapter reminds you of your father, your neighbor or the person holding up the Publix deli line, I would love to hear that too. If a joke misses, the state of Florida will continue operating with its usual level of supervision.

The only useful review is the one your audience believes.

If you review humor on BookTok, Bookstagram, a blog or a newsletter, this guide to reviewing a humor book without explaining every joke may help you choose an angle.

What kind of book is it?

As Florida As It Gets is my eleventh book and a collection of 55 humor pieces about Florida, family, friendship and the everyday decisions that become stories before anybody realizes what is happening.

There is Publix, sweet tea, bad driving, dangerous wildlife, local legends, storms, food, fathers, children, neighbors and both kinds of Florida cougar. The comedy is clean enough to hand to your mother, although she may recognize you in it.

You can read the full introduction on the official book page.

Readers who tend to connect with it

  • Floridians and former Floridians
  • People who love regional humor and personal essays
  • Readers who want comedy without cruelty
  • Parents, grandparents and grown children
  • Anyone who has defended a grocery store with unnecessary passion

Creator angles hiding in the book

  • The chapter that feels most like your Florida
  • A native Floridian versus transplant reaction
  • The funniest sentence you can safely read aloud
  • Clean humor that still has an edge
  • Why ordinary family stories travel farther than expected

What I can provide

Depending on availability and location, I can provide a print or digital review copy, a concise biography, approved cover files, book details, discussion prompts and permission to quote a reasonable excerpt in a review or video. I am also available for interviews about humor, Florida, writing eleven books, building an engaged reader community or learning to make a story sound like the person who lived it.

I will not send suggested praise disguised as talking points. I can give you facts, context and a few good places to begin. Your reaction remains yours.

A little context about me

I am Robert Urban, although most readers call me Rob. I have written eleven books and share new humor and personal stories with a Facebook community of more than 20,000 engaged readers. That page is deliberately about heart, humor and the people in the stories, not business promotion wearing a funny hat.

If you are new to my work, visit Meet Rob or browse the complete book collection. You can also join The Moment Florida Became Florida and tell me when the state first revealed itself to you.

Request a copy or start a conversation

Tell me who you are, where you publish and what caught your attention. A real note is enough. There is no need to pretend we met at a literary conference beside a ficus.
