Project context

Nationwide / Corporate M&A and Restructuring

An acquisition can make several businesses one organization long before their websites agree. The brands continue telling separate stories, customers encounter different explanations and the new entity inherits digital assets whose relationships are unclear.

I worked as brand strategist and migration architect on this consolidation assignment. I defined sub-brand positioning, wrote transition narratives and prepared SEO and AI-discovery briefs for the migration team. Multiple acquired domains were brought into a cohesive presentation while preserving organic search equity during the transition.

The brand decision came before the redirect

A domain migration is a technical event with a strategic question underneath it: what is the relationship between the old brands and the new organization? That answer affects the language customers see, the pages they expect to find and the meaning of the transition.

My positioning work addressed those relationships. A recognizable acquired brand may still carry value for its audience. The new company also needs a clear account of what the combined business represents. Treating the migration as a purely technical move risks leaving those questions for the visitor to solve.

The transition needed a human explanation

Customers and partners have reasons to notice a change of identity. They may be trying to understand what remains familiar and where to go for the service or information they previously used.

I wrote the transition narratives to make the change intelligible. The purpose was to connect the corporate decision with the experience of the people encountering it. The explanation needed to be consistent with the actual brand structure, rather than become a general announcement that left the practical relationships unresolved.

Technical briefs carried the structure into the migration

The SEO and discovery briefs connected the intended information architecture with the implementation team's work. Search visibility depends on more than a new company name appearing in the header; existing content and the questions it answers need a considered place in the new structure.

The technical team retained responsibility for executing the migration. My role was to specify the strategic and content requirements around it. The project joined branding with a digital transition so that the public explanation and the movement of the web properties supported the same organizational change.

The organization gained one coherent digital identity

The acquired domains were consolidated while preserving their organic search equity during the transition.

The central event here was corporate consolidation. The work was to help the digital presence catch up with the business while retaining the usefulness and recognition the earlier properties had already earned.
