Project context

Nationwide / Public Equities & Mid-Market Firms

An investor-relations site can publish the required material and still make the company's story difficult to follow. A reader may find the latest release without understanding how it connects to the business account they have been following.

I worked as creative director and investor-relations strategist on this digital refresh. I reorganized the investor narrative, planned interactive earnings-presentation formats and prepared functional briefs for the IR web vendor. The company gained a clearer public presentation and stronger engagement around earnings releases.

The narrative needed continuity

An earnings communication is part of an ongoing account of a business. The reader needs to understand the relationship between the current material, the company's priorities and the information available for closer examination.

My work concerned that communication architecture. It was not the preparation of the company's financial statements or a substitute for the responsible review of disclosures. The approved information needed a presentation that made its relationships easier to understand, particularly for someone who did not already know the internal account by heart.

Interaction should help the reader examine

An interactive presentation earns its place when it makes a question easier to explore. Adding movement or another layer of navigation does not necessarily improve an investor's understanding. The format needs a clear relationship to the material.

I planned the interactive earnings experience with that purpose in mind. The reader should be able to orient themselves, understand the context and find the relevant detail. The creative direction needed to preserve the seriousness of the communication while making the digital encounter more useful.

The vendor brief was part of the strategy

Functional requirements connected the narrative plan with the web vendor's implementation. The brief needed to make the intended reading experience concrete enough for development, rather than leave the vendor with a broad request to modernize the site.

That handoff is where communication strategy becomes operational. The structure, content and interface need to agree about what the reader is trying to do. I supplied the narrative and requirements work; the vendor built the technical experience, with the company's responsible teams retaining approval of the financial communication.

A clearer public account, better earnings engagement

The refresh improved market understanding and engagement during earnings releases. Investors had a more coherent account of the company to examine at recurring reporting moments.

The work concerned the company's public investor experience and the way an ongoing business story became legible at recurring reporting moments.
