Positioning a distinctive automotive component for an audience that cares about detail.
There were more than 8,000 specification sheets and technical files. A prospective buyer did not need all of them. The buyer needed the right answer about the part being considered.
I worked on the digitization, organization and discovery of that product information. The engagement connected a technical catalog with traditional search, AI-assisted discovery and the commercial path to purchase.
Specificity did the work
The project recorded a 185% increase in direct B2B parts sales and a 70% share of voice across the tracked AI-search fitment queries. That share describes the measurement used in the engagement, not a permanent position across every platform or search session.
The information needed a clear relationship to the component. Materials, specifications and fitment references had to remain accurate while becoming easier to locate and understand. The technical team retained responsibility for the approved product data.
My contribution involved the digital structure and the way that knowledge met the customer. A page can create interest with an image or a name; a specialist buyer often needs a very particular detail before doing anything else.
The buyer's vocabulary may begin with the application
A customer can know exactly what needs to fit without knowing how the manufacturer names the part. The information system needs to connect those starting points carefully.
That makes technical content both a search problem and an explanation problem. The approved specification provides the substance. The digital structure helps the reader locate it, and the product narrative makes its relevance intelligible. The engagement worked across those relationships at catalog scale. The sales result is meaningful because the improvement had somewhere practical to lead: a buyer could find enough information to continue toward a purchase.
The catalog was a continuing responsibility
The monthly retained scope covered technical indexing, search and the sales experience. New information and changes to existing products needed to remain coherent within the larger catalog.
The useful result was a closer connection between what the company knew about its products and what a prospective customer could discover, understand and act on.
