local perspective, with a different story at every stop

A county with many kinds of character

Volusia’s richness lives in its differences. A family fish camp and an international speedway belong to the same county. So do a child’s first encounter with art, a volunteer’s quiet commitment, a restaurant built around someone’s life story, and a spring that gives manatees refuge.

I want to give those differences the attention they deserve. Each story follows its own thread: a founder’s ambition, a skill passed between generations, a place where friendships form, or the patient work that lets something beautiful continue.

These are the details that deepen my affection for the county. They reveal how much people have put into the places we get to enjoy.

The people behind the place

A memorable place carries someone’s choices within it. The welcome, the workmanship, the way a tradition continues: those details make a local story personal. This collection celebrates the people who give Volusia so much to discover.
